The POV market has exploded with the demand by users to be able to capture their experiences in both still photos and HD video. The market leader is GO PRO but there are now more manufacturers whom are making these cameras.
Many of the Photos and video of this website were shot using go pro, the waterproof housings are rugged enough to take severe beatings, and have never let me down regards leaking. They take excellent photos and video even without removing the camera from the waterproof casing which is something something I rarely do.
GO PRO ACTION CAMERA CHART
Older go pro versions are seen below.
I have also shot quite a lot of footage using a Fuji waterproof cameras with good results, even making a foam mount and sticking it to the back of my Kayak helmet, the results were to my surprise really good. There are a confusing number of camera choices which I hope have Been simplified a little here, and there are now many other choices out there as well today.
OTHER ACTION CAMERA CHOICES
REVL ARC
The REVL ARC came out in late 2016 and had some unique features and innovative and unique features such as:
Gimbal stabilisation: This is achieved using a computer controlled electric motor, whatever position that the camera is in it is always going to be the right way up.
Electronic stabilisation: This works in tandem with the gimbal to produce smooth results, helping to reduce or eliminate the inevitable camera shake.
Editing App: another innovative feature is Revl Arcs editing app which very quickly sorts through your hours of video to recognise which sections are good and quickly string together a good video, to do this it seems to use artificial intelligence software I think it is a question of don’t ask just enjoy, which is the idea, instead of spending hours editing you can be out there getting the shot.

OTHER ACTION CAMERAS ON THE SCENE
There are other players entering the Action Camera market some of them are relatively new on the scene such as the Nikon Keymission 360 4K which allows you to take 360 degree HD 4K video, or the Yi action camera that has been around only a few years and is from china, they are now a major player due to both quality and competitive pricing.
OTHER MANUFACTURERS ON THE SCENE
Whichever camera you choose to go for the results will probably exceed your expectations. Only a few years ago to have been able to take a high quality video of say, a kayak or climbing expedition would have been a daunting undertaking, requiring bulky and expensive equipment, Now I get good results even alone and when the filming is taking a second seat to the action.
